With a week off, the GHS Lions aren't resting on their laurels but spending the time perfecting their game play and getting ready for the district opener.  A season record already greater than the past few years, the team is keeping the goal of a district championship on their minds but only with hard work and determination.

Opening the off-district play, the Lions beat Forney in the last 21 seconds of the first home game.  Alton Dennis threw a touchdown pass to Devonte Green in the last play of the game to give GHS the win.

Traveling to Little Elm for the second game of the season, it was all about the Lions in a 29 to 14 defeat.  The work of Dennis and wide receiver Jarvis Bruner led to a pair of touchdown passes to keep Greenville in the lead.  Falling behind at one point of the game, Dennis and Bruner connected for a 66 yard score.  Rushing for two touchdowns, Dennis as quarterback kept GHS ahead as Little Elm worked late into the game to earn its last touchdown, but was too late to catch the GHS squad.

Paris felt the wrath of the Lions unforgiving defense as they were only able to score in small numbers compared to the Lion finish of 71 points.  The score of 71 to 21 tells the story of the GHS dominance.  Dennis passed for two touchdowns, and rushed for two, with the game being called because of lightning with 2:57 remaining on the clock.  Nate Mason and Bruner also contributed two touchdowns to the Greenville win.
