Morning Meeting at the Flag Pole is an Engaging Tradition

GHS students, parents, counselors and teachers gather at the flag pole on Wednesday, September 23.

The challenge was actually very simple.  On a crisp and cool Wednesday morning, students would need to rise early, get to school earlier than before and meet with their friends, to pray.  They would just need to go and to pray.

See You at the Pole (SYATP) has become an international phenomenon that hasn't escaped the campus of Greenville High School.  Students of all faiths take the one morning to gather at the school flag pole, to sing and share and visit.  Then slowly but surely, they form small prayer groups and simply pray.

As stated on the SYATP, "it's about coming together and laying aside all of the labels and groups for one day, to simple engage in prayer and connect with fellow believers in unity around the flag pole.

So no one counted to see how many, no one took role to see who was there, but everyone stood together and they prayed, for the school, for the community and for the world.

And if you missed it this year, no worries, you can attend in 2010, the date is already set for Wednesday, September 22.  See you at the pole.
